Here we focus on a just a few of the every day sightings which occur mainly on our River Safari's down the Sunday's River.

Goliath Heron vs Fish Eagle (2007)
Fish Eagle Sighted attacking a male Goliath Heron 15metres in front of the canoes, coming around the rivers bend, birds where unaware of our approach, as the Goliath Heron Saw us coming, it took off , 4m into the air, the Fish Eagle came out of nowhere and Smacked right into the Heron ,both birds went crashing back into the reeds and water, Spectacular sighting. All you could see where Wings, Feathers, Beaks and Talons everywhere.

Leguwaan (Lizard)
3 Leguaans Foraging up along the rivers banks, feeding on young chicks and eggs, Pied starlings attacking these large lizards trying to deter them from eating their young. Recently( Sept 2009), we spotted a large Monitor lizard perched over a long branch on the river bank, catching the sun, and completely unfazed by the fact that we were barely 2 metres away.

Boomslang
Eating Weaver chicks out of the Nests.

Hundreds of Carp Breeding.(Oct 2008)
In one of the larger pools, hundreds of carp have been seen breading, where males have been chasing the females. Such a hive of activity.

Spotted Genet rescue: (Feb 2009)
Whilst canoeing down a particular section of the river with guests, we noticed something strange on the river bank. Upon closer inspection, we saw a male spotted genet fighting for its life whilst being trapped in a jinn trap(trap for poachers). Luckily due to the fact that the poor animal was so tired from his struggle, we were able to get it free from the trap and place it in a safe container. The genet was then seen to by Darren from the Raptor and Reptile Centre in Addo, where its arm had to be amputated, but is now successfully rehabilitated and back in the wild.

White- fronted Bee eater: (Jan to March 2009)
These beautifully coloured little birds, with their interesting social breeding patterns, and which are not meant to be around Addo or even most of Southern Africa, have been spotted with their clans for the past 3years.

Cape Clawless Otter: (winter 2009)
The Otter's were spotted foraging for crabs in the shallows on an over-cast morning. A quick and brief sighting, as they are very skittish.
